Find a New Lease on Life with Dental Implants

added on: April 13, 2017

Missing teeth can be really hard on your self esteem. I’ve known people who have stopped eating out or visiting friends because they worried that their dentures would slip or that they sounded funny when they talked. I really hate to think that anyone is missing out on all that life has to offer, especially the little pleasures like a good meal and conversation with friends. It’s one of the reasons I went into dentistry in the first place. Being able to help people in a fundamental way – to have an immediate and positive impact on someone’s life– makes me love my job more every day. And replacing missing teeth, securely and comfortably, while creating a balanced and functional bite, is one of the most rewarding things I do. Dental implants let me do that in spades.

The Benefits of Dental Implants

Replacing missing teeth with dental implants has far more benefits than I could list here. Patients feel better, look better, and their mouths function the way nature intended.

Dental implants:

  • Stay in your mouth and do not require adhesives to remain secure or need to be removed for cleaning
  • Won’t come loose and cause embarrassment during eating or speaking
  • Allow you to eat any food you want
  • Prevent bone loss and eliminate aging facial collapse
  • Look more natural for a younger appearance

What Exactly Are Dental Implants?

Implants are so special because they not only replace the part of the tooth you can see, they also replace the tooth’s roots. To do this, a titanium post is surgically placed into your gum and jaw. Unlike other metals, your body accepts titanium and neatly integrates it into the bone, essentially making the post a permanent part of your mouth. Once the post is healed in place, we will replace the visible and functioning part of your tooth with an implant crown, designed to fit perfectly in your smile.
I think it is pretty easy to see why I am such a fan of dental implants – they can not only replace your teeth, they can put the fun back into life!
